Strawberry Pyaali

This is one of the most rich and delicious recipe i have ever tasted,Recently we happened to walk in to a restaurant at pune called Juice world which is near camp area in pune. After having a tangy pav bhaji we wanted to have some desserts, when we scanned the menu, we could find loads of fruit creams, you name any fruit they had cream made of it. one such dish was strawberry pyali or cream of strawberry. I immediately wanted to try the same at home, to my surprise it did come out very well, here's sharing the same with you all :) 


Serves: 1
Preparation time: 45 Minutes
Cooking time : none












Ingredients:

Thick Fresh Cream - 1 Cup
Strawberries - 1 Cup
Sugar - According to taste



Method:

Beat the fresh cream with required quantiy of sugar and keep it aside. Wash make a pulp with 4 to 5 straberries and cut rest strawberries in to thin slices. Now mix the pulp with the fresh cream. Take a serving bowl, pour one layer of fresh cream mix and layer them with sliced strawberries, similarly keep repeating the steps until you finish 4-5 layers. Refrigirate them for an hour or two and serve chilled. You can also use differents fruits of your choice like banana, custard apple, guava, kiwi etc.

Tip:

you can even prepare this the previous day and can refrigirate for it to set well.

Carrot Sago Kheer

Saw this yummilicious kheer on prema's blog, as today being varalakshmi viratam, i planned to make this as a offering to godess lakshmi. The kheer came out amazingly well . Thank you prema for this wonderful recipe. You can find the original recipe from prema 's blog. I made few variations as i was not having few ingredients. Below is the recipe.



Ingredients :

Carrot - 1 Large - finely grated
Sago - 2 tablespoons
Milk - 2 cups
Sugar - 1/2 cup or according to your taste
Cashews - 5
Cardamom - 2 - nicely crushed
Clarified Butter / Ghee - 1 tablespoon


Method :

Heat clarified butter in a thick bottomed pan, fry cashews and keep them aside. Fry the grated carrots in the same pan for few minutes in low flame. Now add milk, sugar and crushed cardamom, cook on low flame for 10 minutes. In the mean time , soak sago for 10 minutes and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Add this sago to the kheer and cook the kheer on low flame for 10 more minutes. Garnish with fried cashews and serve warm or chilled.

Happy Independece day / Watermelon Rind Halwa

A very happy independence day to all my Indian Friends !! Lets celebrate with a Sweet here :)

All credits for this halwa must go to Priya's of Priya easy and tasty recipes . This was the first time i learnt to make something out of watermelon rind and would be the last time to throw the skin after i finish my melons :)
The halwa came out extremely well. Thanks to priya for sharing this wonderful recipe !! The original recipe is mentioned below !!




Ingredients:

2cups Watermelon white rinds (finely grated)


1/2cup Milk powder
1cup Sugar
1tbsp Cardamom powder
2tbsp Ghee
Few orange food colour ( i used a pinch of turmeric powder)
Few almond flakes






Method :

Take the grated watermelon white rinds in a microwave safe bowl, cook in high for 20minutes in microwave oven (stir thrice in between) until the watermelon rinds get half cooked, now add the milk powder, sugar, ghee and orange food colour, mix everything well and cook again for 10minutes in microwave oven in high (stir twice),finally add the cardamom powder,cook for 5minutes, give a stir..Garnish with almond flakes and enjoy warm..

Paal Poli / Sweet poli


Preparation Time : 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Servings: 2

Ingredients:

All purpose flour/Maida - 2 cups
Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Milk - 1/2 litre
Cardamoms - 3
Sugar- 1 cup or more accordingly
Oil for frying

Method: 

Mix maida, baking soda, salt, ,and 2 tablespoons oil together, add enough water and gradually make it into a soft dough. Cover the dough with a wet cloth and keep it aside for 20 minutes. Divide the dough in to small balls and roll them in to puris. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and deep fry the puris till light brown on both sides. Keep it aside. Heat Milk in a thick bottomed pan on medium flame stirring in between, add crushed cardamoms, sugar and let the milk thicken.Remove from flame. Now dip each puri well in the milk and serve hot or refrigirate them and serve cold.
