Oats Upma

Oats, yet another grain which helps lower cholesterol. It is widely known for its high soluble fibre, helps in slower digestion therby creates an extended sensation of fullness.Oats consumed on a regular basis helps to lose weight.They are rich in proteins and carbohydrates too.

Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cooking Time : 10 minutes
Servings : 2

Ingredients :

Rolled Oats - 2 cups
Onion - 1 medium
Carrot - Finely chopped - 1/2 cup
Beans - 1/2 cup
Green peas - 2 tablespoons 
Green Chilli - 1
Coriander leaves - Finely chopped - 1 tablespoon
Mustard - 1 teaspoon
Urad dal - 1 teaspoon
Hing - a pinch
Salt - to taste
Oil - 1 tablespoon
Water - 21/2 cups

Method :

Heat a pan and roast the oats on a mediu flame for 2 minutes. Keep it aside. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard let  it splutter, then add urad dal fry until golden brown, now add onions saute for a minute, add green chilli, vegetables and saute them again for two minitues. Add Water, Salt, and Hing, add the oats once the water starts boiling.Cook on low flame ,stir occasionally until all water is absorbed.Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot.

Tip : Always cook on medium to low flame to avoid over boiling of oats.
